Located just a half-mile from the University of Delaware’s primary campus, the Science, Technology, and Advanced Research (STAR) Campus combines research, education, and innovation on a former Chrysler assembly plant. As part of this exciting initiative, the university looked to provide a physical space for flexible and collaborative research within the innovation community.

B&D provided strategic leadership to bring together various UD departments into a radically new space and operating paradigm. Working within a tight budget, the team managed risk and quality on behalf of the university while navigating procurement processes and user-requested changes. B&D currently serves as program manager in the ongoing implementation of the project.

The $156M building will house the new headquarters of the National Institute for the Innovation in Manufacturing Biopharmaceuticals (NIIMBL). NIIMBL is a national consortium whose mission is to develop technology that will help biopharmaceutical manufacturers produce drugs more reliably and get them to patients faster. The Carol Ammon and Marie Pinizzotto M.D. Biopharmaceutical Innovation Building is scheduled to open in 2020 and will serve as an iconic building on the growing STAR campus.
