  • Conducted stakeholder engagement efforts and evaluated existing conditions of the housing portfolio on campus through a comprehensive document and data review
  • Gained qualitative and quantitative feedback from students via focus groups and a comprehensive student survey, including unit preferences, amenity preferences, student behaviors, off-campus market competition, and critical adjacencies on a large campus
  • Analyzed data from off-campus sources, including pricing and availability of off-campus housing products, vacancy rates, conditions and year built, amenities offered, target populations by unit type, new starts, and proximity to campus
  • Utilized survey data to determine a potential demand-capture rate

Key outcomes:

The team developed a two-part strategy focused on delivering two new residence halls designed to accommodate first- and second-year students. Through this process, it was determined that additional housing capacity is essential for Texas A&M University to continue fulfilling its mission as a preeminent public institution. The proposed housing on West Campus will feature high-quality units that reflect the university’s brand and enhance the overall on-campus living experience.
