Through a competitive procurement process, the university selected a best-in-class development team to deliver Phase I of the Innovation District and engaged in negotiations for the integrated delivery of energy assets, including a district energy system powered by 100% renewable energy, including wind, solar, and ground-source heating.
Construction of the first STEM academic bldg (50,000 SF Conservatory for Biodiversity Education and Research) began summer 2023 and scheduled for opening in 2026.
The Conservatory will be one of the first academic research facilities built to the Living Building Challenge sustainability standards.
