Ty joined the Brailsford and Dunlavey team in 2013 and is a Director in the firm’s Northern California office. Ty has managed the design and development of over $1B in capital projects including PK-14 educational facilities, municipal parks, and recreation facilities in California. Most recently he served as an advisor to both San Jose-Evergreen Community College and Oakland Unified School District on their multiple bonds.
Ty is an Accredited Learning Environment Planner (ALEP). He currently serves as the Chair on the Southwest Region Board of Directors of the Association for Learning Environments. He is also a Commissioner governing the ALEP program. His portfolio of planning work includes approximately $30 billion in long term capital programs, capacity and school utilization planning, and district-wide master planning across the U.S.
Ty lends his unique DeafSpace and Universal Design expertise to all projects typologies covering the full range of academic, municipal, and quality-of-life spaces. He is a Summa Cum Laude graduate of North Dakota State University School of Architecture, where he earned his Masters of Architecture. His thesis encompassed the philosophy of DeafSpace Architecture and universal design theories for the Deaf and hard-of-hearing. He also graduated Magna Cum Laude with a bachelor’s of science in environmental science.
Ty is currently completing his Architectural Registration.
