Student Union Market And Financial Analysis

In 1995, George Mason University engaged Brailsford & Dunlavey, in association with the architectural firm Leo A. Daly, to perform market and financial analyses in support of the renovations of Student Union Building I and II, which faced decreased utilization since the opening of Johnson Learning Center—an academic building with several student center components, including a new food court. B&D was responsible for analyzing the demand for other retail services on the campus to determine whether there were any unmet student needs. We conducted a written survey and focus groups with students, faculty, and staff. Other responsibilities included an analysis of existing conditions, a retail analysis of the existing community, concept development, interviews with potential user groups, a review of university demographics, and financial analysis
