Student Center Market Analysis, Financial Analysis, And Business Planning

Georgia State University retained B&D in 1996 to conduct a detailed market and financial analysis of a proposed new center for its campus in downtown Atlanta. Its vision was that this center would serve to generate revenue for the university by acting as a major public conference and assembly facility for the city. The facility’s design was completed, but we were responsible for developing revenue projections for all of its retail, food service, and rentable meeting rooms. In addition, we were tasked with creating an operations, management, and staffing plan for the facility, and defining its construction and operating economics. We also completed an on- and off-campus market analysis of peer facilities and projected both development and cost parameters. The new Student/University Center opened in 1998 and includes: a 450-seat auditorium; a ballroom and smaller event spaces; extensive conference and meeting facilities; a food court; retail space; lounges and social spaces; and student organizational spaces.
