Stadium Expansion Program Management

In 2009 Savannah State University engaged B&D, in collaboration with Woodline+Solutions, to serve as the comprehensive program manager for the renovation and expansion of the 7,500-seat T.A. Wright Stadium, which had been used for 42 years of football games as well as track and field competitions. We were asked to work with the university and the project team to prioritize strategic drivers for the project to create an ideal program of spaces for the facility, evaluate existing conditions and operations, and investigate various design solutions to maximize the value of Savannah State’s investment. We worked closely with the university and the project team to analyze potential design solutions to address its needs and reconcile them with the established budget, timeline, and strategic asset value. These efforts resulted in a $6 million renovation that was completed in 2011. The project included an updated 8,000-seat facility as well as a new synthetic turf playing surface, a resurfaced track, new home and visitor locker rooms, referee locker rooms, concessions buildings, a press box, an entry plaza, restroom facilities, and various ADA improvements. In addition to Savannah State events, the facility is utilized for local and regional high school competitions.
