Shepherd Field And Playground Program Management

In 2009 the District of Columbia Department of Parks and Recreation, through the Office of Public Education Facilities Modernization, needed program management and project oversight services for the renovation of, and addition to, numerous community recreation centers, athletic fields, parks, and playgrounds. B&D was retained for these services, and the work was completed using the design-build delivery method. The Shepherd Field and Playground project included converting an existing natural grass field to a synthetic turf field and walking track. It holds an adult exercise area and two dedicated playground areas that will include modern play elements, climbing rocks and ropes, a shelter structure, shade sails, and poured-in-place rubber safety surfacing. This $1.7 million project was completed in 2011.
