School Facilities Demand Assessment

Knox County Schools selected B&D in 2014 to assess the need for middle school facilities that would better serve its growing student population. In response to its newly established five-year strategic plan, the district wished to better understand student enrollment and population projections across its 14 middle schools. The scope of work for this project included a review and identification of student enrollment capacity, middle school zoning, transportation routes, and projected student population growth. A strategic asset value session was held with the District to identify and prioritize the current strategic objectives needed to achieve all targeted physical and programmatic improvements. We also conducted an educational adequacy assessment on the schools’ programs. A final report and recommendations were presented to the Board of Education and community representatives in 2015.
