Recreational Sports Master Plan And Update

B&D was retained by Indiana University in 2004 to develop a master plan for campus-wide recreation and wellness facilities. The university’s existing facility was only ten years old, but it was beginning to constrain the school’s vision to be the leading recreational sports program in the country. In order to develop this master plan, we conducted a market analysis, a benchmarking study, a case study of best practices, student focus groups, and an electronic survey. We also did a site analysis to determine the best location for various constituent groups. A financial feasibility analysis was then done on the renovation and new construction concepts. In 2007 we submitted a Facility Master Plan Addendum that included a benchmark analysis of Indiana universities, a faculty/staff survey, a faculty/staff demand analysis, and a demand analysis for the total campus. We were then retained in 2008 to coordinate another student survey to test student fee tolerances in support of recreational sports facility renovations and expansions.
