Recreation Feasibility Analysis And Referendum Support

Arizona State University realized that its existing recreation facilities could no longer meet the needs of its growing campus population, and in 2002 B&D was asked to provide a preliminary assessment to direct a plan to meet this challenge. We conducted an expansion feasibility study including a competitive market analysis, surveys/focus groups, an off-campus health club analysis and a program reconciling demand with current supply. We also tested student tolerances for fee levels and project concepts. Through our financial analysis, we determined the university could support a new, 90,000 SF expansion of its existing facility and a new 80,000 SF facility with a $75 per semester increase in student fees.
