Recreation Center Business Planning And FF&E Support

In 2004, when Cleveland State University wanted a business plan and FF&E recommendations for its recreation center, it turned to B&D as it had in the past. The plan we designed for the university served three functions: to confirm the financial performance that had been presented earlier to the university, to advance the facility’s development of management and marketing strategies, and to serve as an implementation guide for the opening and general management of the proposed facility. In addition, we produced a booklet detailing a strategy for FF&E purchasing specifications, recommended manufacturers, and advised on pricing. In the end the $29.8 million, 130,000 SF Recreation Center opened in August 2006. It received a NIRSA Outstanding Sports Facility award in 2007, a Facility of Merit award from Athletic Business magazine in 2009, and LEED certification.
