Brooklyn College

Recreation, Athletics, And Student Services Facility Programming, Design Review, And Sports Equipment Specification Services

In April of 2001 Brooklyn College was in in the planning stages for a new building that would house all its athletic, recreation, physical education, and student service activities in one facility. The college needed a program to accommodate the wide range of users and spaces, and engaged B&D to develop it. Through a series of interviews with college leaders, students, and academic, athletic, and student service representatives, we developed an outline program that outlined a comprehensive and functional shared-use facility. We continued to work with the architects during the design review and sports equipment selection phases. As a result, the 145,000 SF, $120 million West Quad Building opened in the fall of 2009.
