Park View Park And Recreation Center Program Management

In 2009 the District of Columbia Department of Parks and Recreation, through the Office of Public Education Facilities Modernization, needed program management and project oversight services for the renovation of, and addition to, numerous community recreation centers, athletic fields, parks, and playgrounds. B&D was retained for these services, and the work was completed using the design-build delivery method. The Park View project included $1.7 million in improvements to its 32,227 SF space adjacent to Park View Recreation Center. Because its natural grass field could no longer be maintained, we managed the design and construction of a new synthetic turf athletic field along with a new basketball court, a play area, an adult exercise area, and related site improvements that included a field drainage system and ADA access to the field and bleacher area. The project was completed in 2012. In phase two, we were tasked with managing the renovation of the Park View Recreation Center. Serving as program manager, we oversaw the budget, schedule, design submittals, and FF&E selection, in addition to reviewing all concept plans and quality control throughout construction. The 6,000 SF, $500,000 renovation was completed in March 2013.
