New School Renovation Program Management

In the winter of 2008, E.L. Haynes Public Charter School negotiated a lease with the District of Columbia for an empty school building at 4501 Kansas Avenue NW. A renovation and addition at this site would provide the capacity needed to achieve E.L. Haynes’ overall vision for a pre-K through 12th grade program between two campuses.

B&D was retained in 2009 to assist with program management of the project’s design and construction. A key aspect of our service was as liaison, aligning implementation schedules with financing and cash flow schedules, as well as handling major contract negotiations and management.

The first phase of the renovation opened in the fall of 2009; a $23.7 million addition was built in 2012.
