New School Program Management – Jefferson-Houston School

In 2011, the School Board of Alexandria City Public Schools approved the construction of a new PreK-8 school to replace the existing K-5 Jefferson-Houston Elementary School. Brailsford & Dunlavey was selected to provide project management services for the Jefferson-Houston School project. The site is the focus of significant community involvement and interest, and offers ACPS the opportunity to build an award-winning school, for its academic facilities, its connections to the community, the design, and for its use of energy saving technology. As program manager, we oversaw the project in its entirety throughout all phases of the planning, construction, project close-out, and commissioning. In 2014 the new $44.2 million, 120,000 SF Jefferson Houston School was completed and ready to open for the 2014-2015 academic year. The athletic fields, as well as site work surrounding the school, were completed in 2015.
