Housing, Dining, And Recreation/athletics Feasibility Analysis And Master Plan

In 2002 Eckerd College recognized that its outdated housing, dining, and recreation/athletic facilities could no longer meet the needs of the campus population. The college hired B&D to develop a master plan for each of their three quality-of-life facility types. Our scope included: demographic analyses, off-campus market studies, Internet campus surveys, concept-testing focus groups, financial analyses, and programming for housing, dining, and recreation/ athletics. We developed a master plan from this information that would give the school significant recruitment and retention advantages over other colleges and improve the on-campus life for its students, faculty, and staff. As a result, a new four-house, 145-bed complex was completed in 2006 and features double- and single-bed rooms along with lounges, kitchenettes, laundry facilities, and an indoor pavilion. The facility earned LEED Silver certification.
