Webster Bank Arena – AHL Bridgeport Sound Tigers

Hockey Arena Market And Financial Feasibility Analysis

In 1998 the City of Bridgeport needed a feasibility study to support its plan to build a minor league-level indoor arena. B&D was engaged to do this study which included a market analysis, economic impact identification, detailed financial modeling, and a facility concept development plan. It also showed the market potential for a varied event calendar that included not just sports, but concerts, family entertainment, professional meetings, and trade shows. Our study also defined an architectural program for the facility and showed the degree to which the facility could be financially self-supporting. Based on our study, the city was able to obtain a state grant to supplement local funds and the arena was constructed per our recommendations. The 10,000-seat, $58 million arena opened in the fall of 2001. In the ensuing years, it exceeded all attendance and revenue projections.
