Harrison Park Program Management

In 2009 the District of Columbia Department of Parks and Recreation, through the Office of Public Education Facilities Modernization, needed program management and project oversight services for the renovation of, and addition to, numerous community recreation centers, athletic fields, parks, and playgrounds. B&D was retained for these services, and the work was completed using the design-build delivery method. The Harrison Park project consists of the modernization of the existing park at Harrison Recreation Center. This project includes the removal of the existing playground area and the installation of new play equipment, a mist station, raised garden boxes, poured-in-place safety surface, fencing, landscaping, and concrete sidewalks. The existing basketball court will receive new fencing, new backstops, and lighting. The multifunction court will be resurfaced and will receive a new backstop and lighting. A shaded picnic area will be installed between the play space and existing athletic field. The project is expected to be delivered in the summer of 2013.
