Frederick Douglass Memorial Park And Playground Program Management

In 2009 the District of Columbia Department of Parks and Recreation, through the Office of Public Education Facilities Modernization, needed program management and project oversight services for the renovation of, and addition to, numerous community recreation centers, athletic fields, parks, and playgrounds. B&D was retained for these services, and the work was completed using the design-build delivery method. With the existing outdated space having become a safety hazard, the Frederick Douglass Memorial Park project includes a new plaza area, playground areas, and other community gathering spaces with grills, picnic tables, and game tables. Basketball courts will be resurfaced, surrounded by new fencing and lighting. In addition, a pavilion will be built in front of the existing recreation center.
