Community Recreation And Performing Arts Center Feasibility Analysis

In the summer of 2004 the city of Bristol had a plan to revitalize its downtown district, and as part of this plan the city wanted a community recreation complex. B&D was engaged to perform an analysis of the local and regional demand for the variety of uses envisioned for this complex. Our study examined the financial performance, the range of successful event types, the size and location of each facility and the magnitude of public subsidies needed to operate such a facility. We concluded that the larger nearby cities had absorbed the region’s capacity for the events Bristol’s proposed complex wanted to provide. But we also determined that the city’s community-based objectives could be met by a smaller facility that could grow over time if need be.
