Groton School

Campus Facility Planning Support Services

Since 1995 Groton School has retained B&D for support services in planning a wide variety of construction initiatives, which included: an athletics center, a performing and visual arts center, science and academic facilities, a health center, student and faculty housing, a dining hall, and a student center. Our planning processes have helped define the architectural requirements for these initiatives which in turn helped the school to estimate costs, raise funds, and communicate its needs to a design team. Those processes are: analyzing the proposed project’s role within the greater mission of the school; understanding the facility’s response to competitive institutions; gathering input from faculty, trustees, and students; and developing a series of project concepts for review by the school. Together, Groton School and B&D have been able to successfully build consensus and define the best facility response for new facilities within the context of overall campus needs.
