Barry Farm Recreation Center And Field Program Management

In 2009 the District of Columbia Department of Parks and Recreation, through the Office of Public Education Facilities Modernization, needed program management and project oversight services for the renovation of, and addition to, numerous community recreation centers, athletic fields, parks, and playgrounds. B&D was retained for these services, and the work was completed using the design-build delivery method. The Barry Farm Recreation Center will include a 22,000 SF recreation center with an indoor pool, competition gym, locker rooms, weight rooms, classrooms, and lounges. Outdoor facilities will include a synthetic turf football field with a softball overlay, basketball courts, and a playground. The $26 million project was completed in 2015. Soon thereafter, the Recreation Center obtained LEED Silver certification.
