Bald Eagle Recreation Center Program Management

In 2009 the District of Columbia Department of Parks and Recreation, through the Office of Public Education Facilities Modernization, needed program management and project oversight services for the renovation of, and addition to, numerous community recreation centers, athletic fields, parks, and playgrounds. B&D was retained for these services, and the work was completed using the design-build delivery method. The Bald Eagle project included the renovation of the existing 23,800 SF Recreation Center and construction of a new 6,620 SF boxing annex adjacent to the Center. This project included numerous Recreation Center upgrades, including improved mechanical systems, new finishes, ADA-compliance, and a reconfigured lobby/reception area with new display areas. The newly created annex included exercise and weight equipment, office space, a shadow boxing / jump rope area, and locker rooms. Exterior improvements included resurfaced play courts, refurbished athletic lighting, field improvements, new playground equipment and outdoor site furniture. The $7.3 million project was completed in 2012.
