Athletics Master Plan And Program Of Architectural Requirements

The Baldwin School needed to assess the nature and extent of any improvements to the quality of its athletic facilities and programs. The school enlisted B&D to produce a comprehensive master plan that included an evaluation of existing facilities, student/staff/alumni/parent focus groups, a site analysis, program options, and details needed for the architectural design. We also did a context study of its peer schools and found that Baldwin was deficient in athletic facilities, and fewer students participated as a consequence. As a result of our study, the school added a 47,000 SF athletic center and renovated field and tennis courts. All of this was done while staying within the strict surface requirements set by the local zoning committee.
