Athletic Facilities Master Plan And Arena Feasibility Study

In 2007 B&D was contracted to help conduct master planning services for Northern Arizona University’s athletic department. The university had considered building a new arena but saw the necessity of examining the inventory of existing athletic facilities and developing a plan to address a full range of needs, from repairs and maintenance to large-scale projects. We assessed existing athletic facilities, prepared a status report of their condition, interviewed the athletic director and student athletes, and prepared overlay schemes to determine the optimum strategy for providing improvements. The master plan provided a decision-making tool and road map for repairs and various projects which included new practice fields, new weight and fitness areas, improved academic support facilities, enhanced fan amenities, and a proposed program for a 6,000-seat arena. Lastly, we provided the university with a strategy for moving forward with a marketing plan for fundraising.
