Central Washington University

Arena Preliminary Assessment

Central Washington University wanted a feasibility study done for its proposed arena project. The university wanted to determine whether or not the factors that impact success were present at the university before going forward with construction. It retained B&D to do this study and we performed a competitive context analysis of 16 of the university’s conference and regional competitors, as well as five private arenas in the region. We also interviewed university officials and facility managers. Our analysis consisted of the following: university data (tuition, fees, enrollment, setting); arena/sports complex data (capacity, year built, uses, number of seats, suites, management); average yearly attendance figures; public/private arenas (size, capacity, construction costs, rental rates, types and number of events); and population and distance from Central Washington University.
