Groton School

Academic Building Utilization Study And Science Center Detailed Program Document

The Groton School retained B&D in 2008 to develop a space utilization recommendation for its signature building, the Schoolhouse, and a subsequent plan to address its science facility space needs. Part of this plan also needed to provide for a home room for each full-time faculty member. Our scope of work included: a strategic visioning session; administrative interviews; a benchmark analysis; and facility and space utilization analyses to identify constraints and opportunities for the school. We then developed a plan and program of architectural requirements for a new science center. Our plan for the Schoolhouse called for two additional classrooms, the relocation of non-student-focused offices, and the integration of student lounges into the facility.
