Academic Building Renovation And Expansion Program Management

After completing Presbyterian College’s campus master plan in 2014, B&D was retained to serve as owner’s representative for the master plan’s first project: the renovation and expansion of Neville Hall, the College’s iconic academic building. Built in 1907, Neville is one of the most highly utilized academic buildings on campus and, as such, had significant deferred maintenance issues to address as part of this project. In addition, the college tasked us with overseeing the restoration of the building’s historic rotunda, adding a 120-seat auditorium, and increasing the overall number of classroom and office spaces. The $11.8 million project would include a comprehensive renovation to Neville’s existing 24,683 SF and the addition of 15,574 SF. As owner’s representative, we are providing a wide array of program management covering every facet of the implementation process including architect and builder selection, design management, construction oversight, and successful delivery. Specifically, we are responsible for the following:

• Leading all project communications and ensuring accurate record keeping
• Establishing and managing the project schedule and budget
• Managing the planning and design processes
• Mitigating risk through various quality control practices throughout the project
• Assembling and selecting the design and contractor teams through a competitive selection process
• Assisting the construction manager with the bidding process
• Overseeing the construction process
• Commissioning the building
• Closing out the project

The renovation/expansion project is expected to be completed in 2016.
