Academic, Art, And Athletic Facilities Demand Analysis And Programming

In the summer of 2003 B&D was hired by Trinity Valley School to assist the construction management firm Linbeck in planning expanded academic, arts, and athletic facilities at the school’s recently completed new campus. Our effort was a follow-up assignment to previous work completed in 1995, when we assisted the school in the master plan for a new campus. The subsequent success of the school’s new campus led to the need for additional space to meet growing demands. The tasks of this latest effort included quantifying additional campus space demands and coordinating proposed conceptual design solutions. These goals were achieved through a space utilization analysis, a competitive context analysis of comparable institutions, an analysis of preliminary site layouts, an analysis of existing spaces, and detailed interviews with administrators, faculty, and students. Our scope of work also included an initial senior leadership workshop where the school’s mission and overall objectives were discussed within the context of increasing space requirements. Our resulting recommended building expansion program included additional athletic, art, and academic space to strategically support the school community.
