Watkins Field And Playground Program Management

In 2009 the District of Columbia Department of Parks and Recreation, through the Office of Public Education Facilities Modernization, needed program management and project oversight services for the renovation of, and addition to, numerous community recreation centers, athletic fields, parks, and playgrounds. B&D was retained for these services, and the work was completed using the design-build delivery method. The Watkins Field and Playground project scope included designing and constructing a combination softball and football little league field with synthetic turf, replacing athletic field lighting fixtures, and installing a scoreboard and site amenities. Additionally, we managed the renovation of a workshop/amphitheater and the modernization of Watkins playground. With a construction schedule of eight months, the $2.5 million project was completed in July of 2011.
