Rico Dawson-Velez

Project Manager

Mr. Dawson-Velez serves as a project manager for Brailsford & Dunlavey in the Oakland Unified School District Division of Facilities Planning and Management in Oakland, CA. He graduated from the University of Maryland Eastern Shore with a Bachelor of Science in Construction Technology in 1990, and has over 20 years working in construction management. Prior to joining the B&D team, Mr. Dawson-Velez was an Estimator for Shaw Environmental and Infrastructure where he worked on military base cleanup contracts and base closures throughout California, and a $500M FEMA contract where he was part of hurricanes Katrina and Rita cleanup and re-build efforts. He was the Workforce Utilization Manager for McCarthy Building Companies on the $800M Kaiser Permanente Oakland Medical Center, followed by working as a Project Manager for Opening Technologies on California safe school projects throughout Northern California.
